CONDUCTING EFFECTIVE MEETING

Meeting is very important because of it is the place to discuss ideas and agenda or company’s plan to achieve goals and also place to make important decision making process.

Meeting is where all decision and discussion are made.

            This session is like having a serious lecture and needed much attention and desire to learn because it’s all about laws and practice of meeting. But Prof Mohd Khir was an experience lecturer and clearly conveys the messages on various aspects of meeting and it was easier to understand because he gives lots of examples in real life. Maybe the difficulties to fully understand the ideas of meeting arise because we didn’t have much experience to attend professional meetings.

            There are 2 types of meetings:1) public meeting (2) private meeting

The discussion focus on private meeting and the info that I want to share with u guys are about the validity of meeting. If it is not valid from the beginning of the process of meeting, it is illegal meeting and all the decision or contract or content that came out from those meeting was illegal in the court. Therefore, it is important to conduct an effective meeting. In order for meeting to be valid, meeting must be properly convened, constituted and held.

·         Convened

-it is all about notice of meeting to tell parties that involved coming in the meeting

-some of the aspects that involved are omission to send notice, short notice, and ambiguity of notice and unauthorized issue of notice.

·         Constituted

-irregularity of chairman appointment and must also take important note to absence of quorum it is very crucial to muster a quorum and to maintain a quorum

·         Held

-must ensure that sense of meeting is properly ascertained

-proposal to legitimate and relevant amendments

*PERSONAL COMMENT

I gain a lot of knowledge regarding the importance and the elements in meeting that is very new to me. I think this opportunity to explore the significant of effective meeting will be a good start to dream about becoming a LEADER!!UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL INSIDE U!

For me..Prof Mohd Khir is very motivated and a great leader because he always relate whatever we do in our life, even in meeting room, always put the concept of Islam and live with it! Honestly, I’m very interested to learn about the topic because I can understand clearly the messages that he wants to convey. With the aid of example of real situation he explained to us, make me understand the subject better. Although it’s a bit boring sometimes because it sound like hearing the lecture in university, but it is still very interesting.
